XED002 - ZUGFeRD
ZUGFeRD-compliant invoices are to be exchanged electronically between companies as well as between companies and the public administration in a fast, convenient and simple manner. In addition to large and medium-sized companies and public authorities, the target group for ZUGFeRD is small and very small companies that send a few invoices per year or deal with partners with whom there is no regular business contact.
The ZUGFeRD format is designed to significantly reduce invoicing and postage costs and to make accounting much more efficient through automatic processing.
A ZUGFeRD invoice consists of the visual representation of the invoice for humans and machine-readable structured data. The visual representation of the invoice is in the form of a PDF/A-3. The machine-readable data in XML format is attached to the PDF/A-3 as an annex. Thus, the PDF serves as a container for the visual representation as well as for the XML data.
